Middle school students often have a difficult time transitioning into high school, especially when they’ve missed key concepts along the way. Sometimes only two options seem to exist: hold the students back or hope they will eventually catch up. Now there’s another option. High School Prep will bridge the education gap many students experience during this pivotal time by assessing student needs and providing individualized courses to help them catch up and succeed in high school. High School Prep content can be delivered in two ways: full course or adaptive assessment mode

Freshman Academies. The summer before a student’s freshman year begins, they can take the High School Prep assessment to determine if they’re prepared to tackle 9th grade curriculum. If they are, the student finishes their summer vacation. If they aren’t, they take personalized, web-based courses to catch up.

Alternative transition. Students who can no longer remain at an alternative school site due to age limitations can use High School Prep to catch up on their credits and gain the skills necessary to successfully transition into high school.

Eighth grade assessment. Students take the High School Prep assessment during their eighth grade year to determine where they are with their skill levels. If they’re behind, they are given personalized, web-based courses to bring their skill levels up.

General assessment. High school administrators can use the High School Prep assessment to provide an overview of the skill levels of incoming middle school students. The assessment could also provide a guideline to help determine the appropriate class placement for the incoming students.

High School Prep is available for a fee per use.   See “financing options” for more information.
